My values & inspirations
Make for life
The ‘why’ behind my art is you—to enrich your experiences and express yourself. My hope is that when you purchase from me, you can enjoy your piece for a lifetime and pass it on as an heirloom.
Personally, in the depths of depression past, art has saved me. Creating art is core to who I am and something I need in order to maintain my life. There will always be art I need to create just for myself.
“For life” also means I take my contribution to the planet and community seriously. I aim to have excellent craftsmanship, reduce waste, reuse material, use sustainable material, and support other small businesses.
Connect people
Art rarely engages one person solely, rather it invites others into your world. I imagine my customers serving food created with love, laughing over dinner, or being asked about the story behind a piece. The backdrop and vessel to people coming together is art and I create with this in mind.
Fuel wonder
I maintain my curiosity by following unexpected threads both in life and work. Often my designs are inspired by simple questions about combining materials and concepts—or by wondrous fleeting moments in my daily life that make me appreciate the beauty of this world.
Engage senses
From a young age I’ve had sensory sensitivities that make me carefully consider objects either with disgust or love (one small example, I detested the feeling of seams in my socks). In my late 20s I discovered the cause is AuDHD. The design and finish of my art speaks to my sensory preferences, allowing you to explore its nuances in comforting touch and intriguing sight.
